About Us

Our Story. Our Mission.

The Company

Motohire Spain – your partner of choice for motorcycle tours and rentals. Based in Malaga, Spain. We provide motorcycle tours through Southern Spain, Portugal and Morocco. We also offer Vespa scooter tours of Andalucia for those that might enjoy the slower pace of exploration and adventure.

WE RIDE THESE ROADS BECAUSE WE LOVE THEM

Our Mission

Motohire Spain was not built from a business plan. It was built from fourteen years of riding the finest roads in Southern Europe and wanting to share them.

Everyone here is passionate about riding. Everyone here has a story about the road that changed the way they thought about travel. And everyone here believes that the best way to experience Spain, Portugal, and Morocco is from the saddle of a well-maintained bike, on a road most people never find, with a guide who knows exactly where they are going.

THE TEAM BEHIND THE MAGIC

Norm Byng — Motohire Spain owner and lead guide, Andalusia

Norm Byng

Owner and Tour Guide

Norm came to Spain as a retired American firefighter and paramedic looking for roads worth riding. He found them, and he never left. Since 2011 he has spent every year learning the mountain passes, coastal stretches, and desert tracks of Andalusia, Portugal, and Morocco — not as a tourist, but as someone who lives here and rides for the love of it.

As a guide, Norm brings two things that cannot be taught: local knowledge accumulated over fourteen years of riding these roads in every season and every condition, and the calm, confident presence of someone who spent a career managing emergencies. Nothing fazes him. Past riders describe him consistently as knowledgeable, relaxed, and genuinely passionate about showing people the version of Spain that most visitors never see.

He and his wife Noelle (our Vespa tour guide) decided their love of travel, Spain and the open road is passion worth sharing.

Noelle — Vespa tour guide, Motohire Spain

Noelle Hennessy

Owner and Vespa Tour Guide

Noelle spent thirty years running her own business as a hairstylist in the United States — which means she has three decades of experience in the most unforgiving school of customer service there is. She knows what it means to make someone feel looked after. She knows that the details matter. And she knows that the best experiences are the ones people talk about long after they have gone home.

Her passion for riding and for crafting memorable experiences for clients made joining Motohire Spain an obvious decision. As the guide on the Vespa tour, Noelle brings warmth, humour, and an instinct for what makes a journey feel special rather than just functional. She is, by all accounts, the reason the Vespa tour feels like travelling with a friend rather than following a schedule.

Mamen — bookings and client experience, Motohire Spain

Mamen Mata

Back Office Supremo

Mamen prefers four wheels to two — a fact she is entirely unapologetic about, but her commitment to making sure every MotoHire Spain client gets exactly the bike they want, with the kit they need, is second to none. From the first inquiry to the moment you roll out of the yard, Mamen dots every i and crosses every t so that nothing goes wrong and nothing is forgotten.

She is the voice on the other end of the email, the person who sorts out the logistics before you arrive, and the reason the handover process feels effortless. A smooth customer experience from A to Z — that is Mamen's standard, and she holds herself to it.

tour guide, Motohire Spain Iberia and Morocco tours

Marco Ganini

Tour Guide

Marco's background is Italian motorcycle racing — which turned out to be ideal preparation for guiding tours through the mountain roads of Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. He knows how a bike behaves at its limits, which means he knows exactly how to keep a group riding well within them.

He is also, by all accounts, an exceptional cook. Marco's mother's recipes have become quietly legendary among past tour riders, and if you happen to be around when he is preparing dinner, consider yourself fortunate. The roads are the point, but the evenings have a way of becoming memorable in their own right when Marco is cooking.

Lee preparing BMW GS motorcycle for hire, Motohire Spain fleet

LEE ATHERTON

Lead Mechanic

Lee has been keeping the show on the road since the company began, and is the reason the bikes leave in perfect condition every single time, and the reason they come back in the same state they left.

"Shipshape and Bristol fashion" might have been coined for Lee. He loves his bikes with a dedication that borders on the territorial, and only reluctantly lets clients actually ride them. That reluctance is, in practice, the best possible quality control a hire fleet could have. Multiple riders in their Google reviews have specifically mentioned the condition of the bikes as exceptional. Lee is why.

WHAT PAST RIDERS SAY ABOUT US

"Rented a couple of BMW R1300GS bikes. Norman and team went over and above what was expected. Great bikes, delivery, local knowledge etc. We will be back for sure."

Adam
"10/10 for me. Norman and his wife Noel are great people. I booked the 7 day south of Spain solo trip. They met me at the airport, made we feel very welcome. Joined me for the first hours ride. Conversation and company was very much enjoyed. The bike was flawless, in great condition and drove very well. I enjoyed the hotels, the locations and discovering new places. If you want to book this type of trip, group or solo I cannot recommend this company enough. It is rare that you find people who genuinely care about their customers experience but they certainly do. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. You can be sure, I will be back."
