Tour Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival day, Malaga – tour briefing and group dinner. We will collect you at the airport and take you to the hotel, where you can relax until our evening briefing. After an introduction to your fellow riders and chatting through bikes and trip organization, we will head out for some dinner to finish the discussions.
Day 2 Malaga to Capileira
Tour start– After breakfast we hit the road and head East from Malaga and into stunning mountain vistas as we twist and turn our way to the Sierra Nevada village of Capileira. Highlights include El Torcal nature reserve with its stunning karst rock formations, Sierra de Tejeda mountain range, Tajo los Vados canyon and the stunning alpine roads of the Alpujarras.
Day 3 Capileira to Cabo de Gata
It’s off to the coast today but not before the tour explores the peaks and valleys of the Apujarra region of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. We will spend the day riding through beautiful alpine villages and over the top of the Sierra Nevada exploring the Northern side of the mountain range then head south through the Tabernas desert, home to the spaghetti western film sets, and into the Parque Natural Cabo de Gata for some stunning sea views and our coastal stop for the night.
Day 4 Cabo de Gata to Cartagena
We leave Cabo de Gata and head North exploring the Southeastern coastline of Spain. Our destination is Cartagena but we will take a winding route to get there, heading inland and back to the coast throughout the day. The region is a historically important maritime area that has played a key role in Iberian history all the way back to the Bronze Age, consequently it is filled with interesting locations to visit. Highlights of this leg of the tour include Mojacar, Huercal la Vieja, Cala Penon cortado, Augilar, Sierra de la Muela and Cartagena.
Day 5 Cartagena to Sierra de Cazorla
The tour starts to head Northwest through various national parks. It’s a long route today as we make our way to the eventual destination of the Sierra de Cazorla. The sightseeing starts to turn decidedly green as we explore the route further and further inland. Filled with seemingly endless twists and turns that are paved in perfect asphalt the landscape is truly stunning. This region is the olive and olive oil capital of Europe and a great place to acquire some delicious “souveniers” to pack in your bag for the trip home.
Day 6 Cazorla to Granada
We work our way through the Sierra de Cazorla and back into the Sierra Nevada as we get nearer to our eventual destination of Granada. On the way we head through the Parque Natural Sierra Magina, into the mountains south of Jaen and eventually back into the Sierra Nevada, home to Mulhacen, the highest peak of the Iberian peninsula. We will head up to the ski resort area east of Granada before eventually heading back down into that fantastic city for some tapas adventures that evening.
Day 7 Granada Rest Day
Much needed rest day in Granada, home to the Alhambra Palace, last stronghold of Moorish culture in Spain and a Unesco World Heritage site. We will tour the palace and explore the beautiful architecture as well as the rest of the city taking in the fantastic Albacin quarter and Bib Rambla.
Day 8 Granada to Ronda
We head west as we leave the Sierra Nevada and head towards the Sierra de Ronda taking in the charming Andalusian “white pueblos” of Montefrio, Iznajar, Antequera, Ardales, El Burgo and then into Ronda, all the while riding through seemingly endless olive groves and, of course, more mountain twisties.
Day 9 Ronda through The Sierra de las Nieves and Sierra de Grazalema
Last day on bikes we take in the amazing riding of the area west of Ronda into some of the best roads of the entire tour. Twisting and turning through the cork forests of Grazalema, El Bosque, Ubrique, Gaucin, Jubrique and back eventually to Motohire headquarters to say goodbye to the bikes and hello to the passenger van for the ride to Malaga for the last dinner of the tour.
Day 10 Malaga Departure day
Thank You’s and Goodbyes from the Motohire staff as we get you back to the Airport!
