The views in Andalucia will amaze you

Andalucia is the Spain that you dream of and this one week ride will highlight the best Southern Spain has to offer! You will visit the beautiful historic Moorish cities of Cadiz, Sevilla, Granada and Antequera and pass through some stunning “pueblos blancos”, the white hillside villages that Andalucia is famous for. You will enjoy delicious tapas, listen to flamenco guitar and see enchanting señoritas dance Sevillanas. Andalucia won’t fail to move you!

A blend of mountains and valleys make this a memorable experience

Andalucia distinguishes itself from the rest of Spain due to its spectacular climate (300 days of sunshine per year anyone?) and its unique Moorish history, based on an arabic presence  that lasted mostly harmoniously for close to 8 centuries. This tour really will offer you some of the best experiences (both biking and otherwise) that Spain has to offer. You will visit the beautiful historic Moorish cities of Cadiz, Sevilla, Granada and Antequera and ride through stunning “pueblos blancos”, the white hillside villages that Andalucia is famous for.

There will be no shortage of outstanding twisty roads including those found in the Sierra de Grazalema and Sierra Nevada mountain ranges. All roads are in excellent condition and there is very little traffic. Accommodation will be welcoming and comfortable, including stays in paradors: castles, palaces and fortresses converted into motorcycle friendly hotels. This tour is the perfect getaway, combining wonderful riding with great gastronomy and culture. And did we mention that sun almost always shines ?

Besides the stunning natural scenery along the way, there is plenty to discover off the beaten track with plenty of picturesque white villages and fantastic towns where Moorish and Spanish cultures have melded together. The journey offers complete motorcycling pleasure on tranquil, winding, mountain and coastal roads. The roads throughout the entire tour are asphalted, and we will stay off dirt tracks unless a group specifically asks for a taster of some of the brown stuff.

Arrival day, Malaga – tour briefing and group dinner. We will collect you at the airport and take you to the hotel, where you can relax until our evening briefing. After an introduction to your fellow riders and chatting through bikes and trip organization, we will head out for some dinner to finish the discussions

Cadiz, via Marbella, Ronda and Puerto de Las Palomas. Seaside vistas, followed by mountain vistas, and then back to the seaside on this fabulous first day or riding which takes in the historic mountain town of Ronda, the glorious mountain pass of Puerto de las Palomas at close to 4500 ft above sea level, before dropping down into Europe’s oldest inhabited city, Cadiz, home to delicious seafood, unspoilt beaches and some serious history.

Seville, via Jerez and Doñana National Park  Cadiz. Even if you’re not ornithologically minded, you won’t fail to be blown away by the wetlands of Doñana, with its plethora of birds, marshland, lagoons, pine groves, aloe veras, moving dunes and cliffs. It’s stunning. If birds aren’t your thing, what about the sherry and motorcycle track of Jerez ? And then finish up in the mysterious and enchanting city of Seville, on the banks of the Guadalquivir.

Granada, via Alhama de Granada. Alhama de Granada enjoys spectacular and uninterrupted views over the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Famed for its hot springs that date back to Roman times, this is a must-see place. And then Granada, with its awe-inspiring Alhambra palace, the Moorish souk in the old town and authentic tapas bars (where the actual tapa is free with your drink) is a lovely place to wind down after a big day of riding.

Trevelez, via the Alpujarras Mountains. Trevélez, home of exquisite cured hams, possibly the best in Spain. You’ll just have to see (and try) for yourself. This is thanks to the high-altitude dryers made possible by the locations of these towns, a thousand meters above sea level. To get there, the Alpujarra’s roads twist and turn, up and down, for mile after mile, following the dramatic mountain topography. Scenic vistas abound, while traffic remains pleasantly scarce even during holiday times.

Benahavis, near Marbella, via Antequera and El Chorro (famous for the Caminito del Rey). Another great day on the bike, going through stylish Antequera (with more churches per inhabitant than anywhere else, each one a glorious andalucian take on the gothic style), El Chorro, where you’ll see the intrepid pilgrims seemingly hanging on the cliff faces of the Caminito walkways, and finishing in Benahavis for a well-earned dinner and rest.

Departure, via Malaga airport.

ADDITIONAL DAYS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE END OF THE TOUR FOR THOSE WANTING A FEW EXTRA MILES!!

This is a guide to the towns we visit the exact route will depend on both traffic and weather conditions.
